The Northern Regional Chairman of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Daniel Bugri Naabu has accused the Minister for Local Government, Hajia Halima Mahama, of creating problems in his region.
According to him, the Minister has connived with the DCE for East Mamprusi to deny certain party people the right to pick up forms for portfolios in the Gambaga constituency.

He said the rescheduling of polling station elections in the area is a ploy by the Minister, who doubles as the MP of the constituency, to make sure some contenders do not get the chance to file their nominations.
He, therefore, accused Hajia Halima and the DCE of scheming with some of the aspirants, while vowing to hold them responsible should anything happen during the constituency elections.
Speaking at a press conference, Mr. Naabu said: “If there’s any problem regarding this election, I will hold them responsible. I’m not going to sit down and allow them to create problems. The DCE has no hand in any election, neither the parliamentary candidate, this is purely party issue.”
He further accused the Minister of sanctioning the sale of nomination forms to her favourites, whiles the likes of deputy NADMO Coordinator, Peter Wuni have been sidelined.
This, he said, “is not acceptable, they are all NPP members, they’re all having the right to exercise their democracy”.
Mr. Naadu ended with an appeal to the National Chairman of the NPP, requesting that he warns both the DCE and Local Government Minister to “stay away” from the region and its constituency elections.
