- Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu says he is expecting Bawumia to be in Ghana latest by a week's time
- The majority leader assures Ghanaians that the vice president is currently just resting
Majority leader in parliament and top NPP official, Osei Kyei Mensah-Bonsu says Ghanaians should expect the vice president in a week's time.
According to Osei Kye Mensah Bonsu, Dr Mahamadu Bawumia is doing just fine and thus would return to work shortly. Speaking in an interview with Starr FM, the majority leader stated that the second gentleman of the land will hopefully resume for work in a week's time.
Speaking to Starr News’ Parliamentary Correspondent Ibrahim Alhassan Friday Mr Mensah-Bonsu stressed government’s position that Vice President is doing well and should be in the country in a week time.
“The Vice President really, I’ll tell you that he is okay. But, he has been asked to rest a bit. You know Ghanaians if he should come now, so many people will be trooping to his house and thus he wouldn’t have time to rest. I think the doctors decided that [he should] continue to rest a bit for at least one more week or so before coming,” he stated,
The Vice President traveled to the United Kingdom (UK) last Friday to catch some rest. The news of Dr Bawumia’s ill health was disclosed in a press release by the Chief of Staff, Frema Opare, who stated that he left the country in the company of his wife, Samira Bawumia, on the advice of his doctors.
A lot has been said since his departure to London to seek medical care, with reports from certain quarters suggesting he is suffering from stroke. These claims have been advanced on social media by some Ghanaians, who are perceived to be sympathizers of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC).
