University of Ghana: Legon fees 2019/2020

University of Ghana Fees 2019/20

The cost of higher education has reduced tremendously due to the contribution of the Government of Ghana. The fees of The University of Ghana are affordable and cater not only for the needy students but also for the interests of the development of the institution, stakeholders and sponsors.

Before the students are registered for the first semester, the fees for The University of Ghana must have been paid half of the total amount for the 2019/20 academic year. The other half is paid before the second semester commences. The University of Ghana Legon fees differ depending on the department and course the student is taking.

The fee structure is inclusive for the Colleges of Health Sciences, Humanities, Education and also the residential charges.

College of Health Sciences

University of Ghana Legon fees

Students from this field are engaged in research programs in the health industry. The institution has heavily invested in modern day laboratories equipped with ultra-modern facilities applicable in the modern healthcare.

It caters for regular students, diploma holders from known health institutions and self-sponsored students. The fee is dependendent on the course of the student but its affordable despite the high demand of the field. Below is the fee structure of the major courses. Note: The amount applies to Ghanaian Cedi:

Regular Students

First Year – 2,890

Second Year – 2,675

Third Year – 2,500

Clinical Year – 2,505

Self-sponsored Students

First Year – 7,585

Second Year – 8,355

Third Year – 8,180

Clinical Year – 8,515

College of Humanities

The students in this field are offered many activities in the institution. They take field trips in order to reinforce all that is learnt in class. Most of the clubs and societies are headed by this department. Some of the clubs include law, history, language and music.

The fees vary according to the specific course. Currently the fee structure is:

First Year – 1,725

Continuing – 1,275

Level 200 – 1,780

Self-sponsored (First Year) - 5,040

Self-sponsored(Continuing) – 4,535

College of Education

University of Ghana Legon fees

Students are equipped with skills in which prepare them for a wide range of careers related to the field. They are also attached to school and related institution in order to get familiarized with the school environment. Through this they are able to create a network of contacts after graduating.

The fee structure is:

Regular students

First Year – 1,630

Continuing – 1,680

Self-sponsored (First Year) – 5,525

Self-sponsored(Continuing) – 5,070

The University of Ghana graduate school fees are exclusive of additional payments of levy for generator. All The University of Ghana graduate fees are reflected in terms of the Ghanaian Cedi. Also the institution offers different modes to facilitate fee payments. Needy students are also enrolled to the bursary scheme where the institution pays their fees. In case the student cannot pay all the fees at one go, they can opt to pay the fees in terms of instalments.

Students are also urged to apply for scholarships in order to guarantee smooth flow of their education in the institution. They can also join a work study program where they can solve their financial needs. All the earnings from the work study program are accredited to the student’s account directly. The institution also levies fees on its residential areas to the students. The fees are open to revision from time to time.
