- Countryman Songo has said Emmanuel Tagoe is not a world champion

YEN.com.gh has gathered Firebrand sports journalist, Patrick Osei Agyemang, popularly known as Countryman Songo, has criticized Ghanaian boxer, Emmanuel Tagoe after his performance over the weekend.

According to the controversial broadcast journalist, Emmanuel Tagoe has not distinguished himself as a world champion yet.

Speaking on Adom TV's Fire for Fire TV Show, Countryman Songo expressed that the IBO title holds little regard in his books.

The IBO is not a credible World title, we don’t have a World champion in Ghana...Tagoe and his people should stop deceiving the people of Ghana, we don’t have a World champion in Ghana. Tagoe is not a serious boxer, he is not a good boxer,” Countryman Songo said on the Fire for Fire show..

The sports journalist went on to say that the boxers Emmanuel Tagoe has fought, have been of "low quality."

Countryman Songo opined that if his promoters want him to become a "quality" boxer, they ought to find him worthy opponents for him to up his game.

Following Saturday's fight at the Bukom Boxing Arena, where Emmanuel Tagoe successfully defended his IBO lightweight title against his Argentine contender, Ghanaians have expressed disappointment at Tagoe's boxing performance.

This has even led to some saying that Isaac Dogboe - who also holds a world title - can take on Emmanuel Tagoe, regardless of their weight class difference.

"...if they [Baby Jet Promotions] want him to be a good boxer they have to get him a good boxer,” Songo added.

Countryman Songo went on to say that the IBO title, as far as he is concerned, is not a world title, and listed names of Ghanaian boxers who have held WBC, WBA, and IBF titles, leaving out Emmanuel Tagoe.

"We have had World champions like, Azumah Nelson, Alfred Kotey, Ike Quartey, Jospeh King Kong Agbeko and Joshua Clottey and not Emmanuel Tagoe,” he said.
