Some senior officers of the Ghana Armed Forces have arrested a 27-year-old young man believed to be a ‘fake soldier’.
According to a GhanaWeb.com report, Prince Ferguson Essel was arrested at Ntoaso in the Eastern Region for parading himself as a soldier and also extorting, abusing people in the area.
The report says Essel was arrested by two senior military officers from 37 Military Hospital and Burma Camp during their visit to the area following a tip-off.
The suspect has been handed over to the Nsawam Police Command for further questioning after a search at his residence revealed some items including three military uniforms, a kit bag, a water pack, a baret with a military crown.
Some desert boots and military belts all which is said to be aiding him play out his ‘fake’ military role was also discovered from his room.
In a video circulating across social media platforms, the military officers were seen subjecting the suspect to severe beatings, to apparently get him confess his ‘sins’.
Meanwhile, police investigators are yet to find out details of his operations.
