Police officer detained after death of girlfriend in his room

- Sergeant Bright Opoku has been detained after a woman was found dead in his residence

- He has been transferred to Kumasi pending an investigation by CID

A police officer of the Konongo Divisional Task Force has been detained by authorities in connection to the death of his alleged girlfriend which reportedly occurred in the said policeman's residence.

According to popular reports, a tutor of the Kumasi Girls High School was found dead, in Sergeant Bright Opoku's residence in a suburb of Konongo.

Sergeant Bright Opoku, age 30, according to recent reports has been transferred to Kumasi, the regional capital, pending an investigation which is being conducted by the police regional Criminal Investigations Department (CID).

Vida Frema, who was a tutor of the Kumasi Girls High School, was found dead, hanging by the neck in Sergeant Bright Opoku's room in Konongo.

Whiles all appearances point towards a suicide, Vida Frema's relatives suspect that someone had a hand in their relative's death.

It has been reported that authorities also found a blood stained knife in the room where Vida Frema's body was found hanging from the ceiling.

The Police have failed to make any comments to shed more light on the matter.

The district police command has officially cordoned off the place where Madam Vida Frema's body was found, while police are yet to confirm if they received an autopsy report which was due to be released on Thursday, February 1, from the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital.
