Ghana's Vice President, Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia, has finally spoken to Ghanaians following a 12 day long medical leave he took when he was flown to the United Kingdom to receive medical attention.
On his first day back at work after taking a surprise medical leave on Friday, January 19th, 2018, Vice President Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia has shared a message of gratitude towards his wife, Samira, President Akufo-Addo, and all Ghanaians who supported him through his brief time of weakness.
In his message, Vice President Bawumia thanked all religious institutions who "in diverse ways" took the time to intercede for him through prayer, and also thanked God for his mercies.
"I have resumed work today, Friday, 2nd February 2018, to continue with President Akufo-Addo’s dream of helping build a prosperous Ghana. God bless our homeland Ghana." He wrote.

Reports that Vice President Dr. Bawumia had taken a medical leave to the United Kingdom surprised Ghanaians two weeks ago after government made the announcements.
Upon hearing that he had been flowed to the UK to receive medical treatment, many Ghanaians criticized government for opting to fly the Vice President to Europe instead of making use of the many well equipped medical facilities already in the country.
Some commentators alleged that government's decision signified a clear lack of trust in Ghana's Medical Health system, although these reports have been heavily rejected by government.
