- Police and security personnel have been deployed to Ahwiaa to restore calm there
- A bloody clash between Asante line boys and Zongo line boys have caused several others to be severely injured
- The clash between both groups dates back to 1999
There is intense security at Ahwiaa in the Kwabre East District of the Ashanti Region. This was after a group of angry young men clashed with each other.
YEN.com.gh is gathering that the bloody clash was sparked following a disagreement between these groups of men called the Asante line boys and Zongo line boys. Also, there are speculations that these men were fighting over some religious matters.
As it stands now all residents of the town are currently indoors under lock and key for fear of losing their lives after three persons have been seriously injured.
YEN.com.gh is also gathering that the dispute between these groups started way back in 1999.
Citi FM spoke to the assemblyman of the area who expressed surprise over the unrests between the group.
"We don’t know who this came about but it has been happening since 1999. We’ve not seen any such conflict over the years but it is just yesterday it happened again,” he said.
The cause of these clashes, if confirmed to be religious, brings back concerns over the security and tolerance of groups and societies in Ghana especially when it comes to religious, ethnic and political lines.
Ghana's most deadly tribal and ethnic clash has been the Kokomba and Nanumba clash which has caused the lives of thousands in the Northern belt of Ghana.
Meanwhile, police officials say there are mounting intense investigations to clamp down on all perpetrators of the crime.
