Ghanaian actor and entrepreneur, John Dumelo, is encouraging Ghanaian youth to embrace agriculture since it is one of the most lucrative jobs in the country.
According to the popular actor, although farming demands a lot of patience, it pays off at the end of the day.
John Dumelo spoke to Ghanaweb at Accra Girls SHS, during the National Buffer stock programme to feed free SHS students on Friday.
The actor in his interaction disclosed that every sector of agriculture including animal rearing is booming, therefore the youth must take advantage of farming.
“At the end of the day, we have to eat what we grow. And we also have to support local consumption. And that’s the thing I am concentrating on. We should encourage the youth to get into farming. Farming is patience but there is a lot of money in farming”, he said.
Actor John Dumelo in his interaction insisted that there is huge demand for goat meat and other nutritious meat in Ghana today.
“Currently, I’m into maize farming, snails, watermelon and pepper. So people would come and buy from us. I mean it’s sad when you look at certain things in the country when you have people importing pork, chicken, so many of these things that we can produce in Ghana and it’s bad”, he said.
John Dumelo added that he is going to remain in the agric sector, especially crop production and animal husbandry
The actor already owns a three-acre cassava farm in the Manya Krobo community in the Eastern Region which he hopes to expand to 10 acres very soon.
