- Popular actor, Agya Koo, has condemned attacks on his upcoming television channel, Agya Koo TV
- According to him, comments by radio presenter, Kwasi Aboagye, about the upcoming project were in a bad taste
- He added that those reservations show Kwasi Aboagye is merely jealous of him
Kumawood Ghanaian movie star Agya Koo, in a report by radio XYZ, has rebuked a radio presenter, over comments made about an upcoming television channel, Agya Koo TV.
At a press briefing held on Monday, January 29, 2018, in Accra, the ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture, announced the launch of the Agya Koo and the Daddy Lumba TV.
The aim of establishing the channel, the minister Catherine Afeku noted, was to promote local content on television.
The initiative has however been met with criticisms by stakeholders in the entertainment industry, one of which is the host of Peace FM’s Entertainment Review, Kwasi Aboagye.
Kwasi Aboagye was reported to have described the plan as “nonsense”, a comment that has drawn sharp criticism from the actor.
But speaking to Agyemang Prempeh (Agyengo) on Power Entertainment on Power 97.9 FM over the weekend, Agya Koo lashed out at his critics, saying they envy his success in the entertainment industry.
“Did he want the government to launch Kwasi Aboagye TV for him? He works at UTV, I’m doing my own so what’s his problem?
Let me state that he does not like me and it didn’t start recently. If he’s brave he should go and stop the project. He should not be on radio and insult me. He’s just jealous. I started my career before him,” Agya Koo fumed.
But in a sharp rebuttal on the show, Kwasi Aboagye denied condemning the upcoming television channel.
According to him, all he said was that there was no sense in the idea, announced by the ministry.
