Ghanaian rapper, William Kojo Johnson, popularly known as Stay Jay, is saying no Ghanaian musician can match him when it comes to rap music.
According to the rapper, it will take any musician trying to get ahead of him 10 years to delete his records, and another 30 years to finally make Ghanaians forget about him.
In a Peace FM report, the musician said his first single ‘Shashe Wowo’ which is over 6years old is still fresh in the minds of his fans both home and abroad.
Stay Jay, according to the report, said the 6-year-old track is still taking him places and showcasing Ghana around the world.
“Even last month, it landed me a gig in Liberia at George Weah's inauguration concert in Monrovia and this is what has kept Stay Jay for some time,” he said.
The musician stressed that many Ghanaian rappers come out with songs and it becomes a tough battle for them to sustain their pace within months.
He also mentioned that many rappers today don’t have any passion for rap music but only veer into the industry because they need to survive.
"Some rappers simply aren’t truly passionate about rapping. Once things don’t seem to be happening quickly, they get burned out and fade into the sunset. If you want to make it as a rapper then you need to truly love the craft", he said.
Stay Jay enjoyed success and massive airplay with hit singles such as Shashee wowo, Twaame Lala, Prepaid girl, Sue, My baby, Sa aba, among many others.
