- This is the second state of nation address by president of the republic, Nana Addo Danquah Akufo-Addo
- The president is expected to touch on pressing issues like the economy, job creation and security
President of the Republic, Nana Addo Danquah-Akufo-Addo, will be presenting his second state of the nation address.
Preparations have been put together to ensure that the SOTN becomes a great success.
YEN.com.gh is learning that all former presidents including John Dramani Mahama have been given special invitation by the presidency.
Former president Mahama showed up in parliament all dressed in a grey suit.
Already, the minority in parliament has downgraded the NPP administration in its first term in office arguing that Ghanaians continue to suffer under the administration of Nana Addo.
Ahead of his delivery, there are various expectations from the president as the speech is expected to be based on efforts to improve the economy, ensure fiscal discipline, create jobs, enforce law and order and also discover home-grown policies to develop the country.
But aside the expectation, there also remain some controversial issues that most Ghanaians would not want the president to touch on. These issues are based on how terrible government has dealt with the issue and the related pain and frustration Ghanaians have experienced over the matter.
So far, the government has had to deal with grave challenges including the high rate of unemployment which arguably stands at over 48 percent. This development has been described by both government and the private sector as a national security crisis.
When it comes to the economy, the government has had to battle with the issue of how the cedi keeps falling against the dollar and also the troubling issue of high debt levels in the country. Fortunately for the government, Ghana was able to discover its second oil fields as the coming on board of Exxon Mobile.
