- Ghanaian actress, Beverly Afaglo has condemned the branding of exercise books with images of Kumkum Bhagya actors
- According to her, publishers of such books need to focus more on Ghanaian celebrities and legends
Ghanaian actress, Beverly Afaglo, has blamed Ghanaian publishers for the proliferation of exercise books branded with images of non–Ghanaians.
According to her, books branded with such images do not inspire patriotism among children who use them in schools.
She went on to say that local book publishers need to do more in order to instill self-belief among children of school-going age.
Beverly, who is married to Eugene Baah, better known as Choirmaster, argued that the practice is bad and needs to be checked.
This, she stated, is because the children are not inspired to believe in themselves as the future leaders of Ghana.
“…I went to buy some books for my daughter, and when I reached our home, I decided to go through the books, only to see these images on them.
I am amazed and upset at the same time. When are ever going to appreciate our own?", she wondered.
In her opinion, the images of Ghanaian legends or celebrities could have been used to brand the books, and as such those being the printing of the images of foreigners on such materials need to realize that Ghanaians wouldn’t really patronize them.
