When the Vice President of Ghana Dr. Bawumia failed to show up in his office for some time, concerns were raised about his whereabouts. Many people speculated on his whereabout but no official statement was made about these claims. But after some time, it was confirmed that the Vice President had took a medical leave from office.

The details about his sickness were however not disclosed even after frequent queries from the media. Many people were shocked since it had not been long since he assumed office. Dr. Bawumia and wife departed for the U.K. where he received medical attention.

The story also caused a debate in the parliament. The leader of the Minority in Parliament Haruna Iddrisu raised concerns about the well-being of the Vice President. He further accused the Government of denying the public information about the health status of the Vice President.

Many were confused since there had been no official communication made to the public on when he was probably assuming office. Also, the people wanted to know who would carry forward the duties of the office while he was away. This became the talk of the town as many speculations were being made from the public and also from other political parties demanding for full information.

All the concerns were however laid to rest when host Simon Lardy Anyenini from the Newsfile Saturday posted some pictures of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia wife and himself. Bawumia and wife were pictured walking down the streets of the U.K. The wife of Bawumia was pictured strolling around the town in the U.K.

The wife of Bawumia was seen to be in a jovial mood easing the tension of people about the situation. Although the authenticity of the photos of Bawumia’s wife and him walking down the streets of land have not been confirmed yet.

The impromptu statement by the presidency about the 12-day leave of the Vice President raised concerns in the public. But some of the concerns were touched by former President John Agyekum personal physician who accredited the choice of the Vice President to seek medical attention in the U.K.

He also answered to the Minority Leader of the Parliament, deeming the full exposure of the health status of the Vice President as inappropriate. He further argued that he had the right to choose whether to disclose or not to disclose any information concerning his health status. Many argue that being a public figure and a person of interest in Ghana, the public has the right to know the status of his health condition.

The health status of the Vice President has become a common field of interest championed by the National Democratic Congress and the new Patriotic Party during campaigns. The Government has however really tried to keep the public in the light compared to when the Former President Atta Mills health condition was kept away completely from the public. People are still hopeful that Mahamudu Buwamia and wife will return back to the country.
