According to a report of International Organisation for Migration it has exposed that over 53000 illegal migrants of Ghana are still in Libya. A report also comes that about 127 Ghanaian prisoners are released from Libya.
Highest number of illegal Ghanaian migrants are still in Libya
As per the report of International Organisation for Migrations, Ghana is one of the countries having the major number of illegal migrants in Libya.
According to several statistical reports Ghana has a total of 31,251 migrants in Libya. After Ghana, Nigeria is also in the list with 29,605 migrants whereas Mali with 24,105 migrants.
According to some experts Illegal migration is increasing in a high volume which becoming a national security concern in Ghana.
As per several reports, from 2014 more than 4000000 African refugees and migrants have already crossed the Mediterranean form Italy to Libya.
Ghanaian migrants prefer to stay in Libya
For illegal migration about 15000 people has died since 2014 according to International Organisation for Migrations.
According to current report in 2016 the number of death has reduced to 5143 and in 2017 it decreases to 3116.
Nana Akufo-Addo the president of Ghana assured to reverse the trend of illegal migration of Ghana by developing the economic condition of Ghana and providing employment opportunities for the entire citizen.
President Akufo-Addo stated that it was improper for any Ghanaian to go through the life threatening ordeal of an illegal immigrant.
Ghanaians love to move throughout many parts of the world for searching new opportunity but due to collapse in the economic condition of Ghana, the country is turning into a region of bulk emigration.
