- There has been a spike in crime along some major streets in Accra
- Criminals are said to be taking away valuables from the cars of their victims
If you happen to drive along the ACP to Pokuase stretch of the Achimota-Nsawam highway, Fiesta Royale to GIMPA road and La Beach to Teshie road, you may have to be extra careful because the police say there is a crime alert there.
The police revealed that these criminals walk along the shoulders of the above-stated roads and highways as though they are innocent pedestrians but during traffic jams, they forcibly open doors of vehicles, jump into the car, pounce on the occupants and take away their valuables such as mobile phones, laptops, handbags and other portable items of their victims including money then after they escape into the adjoining bushes.
To this end, the Ghana Police Service is calling on the general public to help clamp down on these criminals and also reduce the menace of crime there.
Passengers and drivers are therefore advised to lock up from within and roll up their car windows when driving along such areas.
This is to secure their valuables in order for these miscreants to not take advantage of the traffic jam.
Crime along major streets in Accra remains one of the reasons why the major streets of Accra remain the scariest in the country.
