- Bishop Oyedepo has dismissed claims that he is worth only $150 million
- He said it is insulting for one to say that he is worth $150 million
- He was responding to a Forbes list on rich pastors
Super rich Nigerian pastor, Bishop David Olaniyi Oyedepo, founder of Winners Chapel International, has criticized a Forbes report that says the popular Christian pastor is worth about $150 million.
Responding to the popular financial magazine's publication, Bishop Oyedepo said the fact that Forbes says he is worth $150 million is a insult, and quoted biblical scripture which he feels better represents his net worth.
He said: "Some fellow said I was worth $150 million, I said that is an insult. That is an insult. I am worth Philipians 4: 19 which says My God shall supply all my needs according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus. $150 million is too small. That can’t be."
Bishop Oyedepo's comment may seem like arrogant words, but a closer look at his finances, properties, and his church's achievements shows that he may have a point.
Winners Chapel, the mega church which Bishop Oyedepo sits at the helm of, is said to be the biggest church in Africa, and boasts a 50,000 seater auditorium largely considered as the biggest in the world.
