Three NPP members in police grips for stealing

- Three NPP members have been arrested for Stealing in Eastern Region

- All the the suspects are being processed for court for immediate action

The Police in the Eastern Region have arrested three supporters of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), in the New Juaben South Constituency for stealing.

According to the Police, the three suspected thieves unlawfully broke into the residence of the NPP constituency secretary and bolted with the party’s album meant for their upcoming constituency elections.

Two of the suspects namely, Alex Owusu alias Gunta and another, who was only identified as Wadoski, are believed to be among a gang of four who were allegedly hired by the party's Constituency Organizer, Obeng Manu to perpetuate the crime.

The Police say, the suspects forced open the frontdoor of the house of the secretary, and tied up one Pius Tevi, an occupant of the house with rope, before committing the crime.

Further reports say, the suspects also made away with some mobile phones, GHc 4,000 cash and other personal belongings of the party's secretary.

The New Juaben District Police Commander, Chief Superintendent Cosmos Alan Anyan briefing the media explained that, one of the suspects, Alex Owusu mentioned the names of Tanko, Mafia and Wadoski as his accomplices.

The Police Chief added that Wadoski, after his arrest also named Obeng Manu and one Justice Peter Afful, alias Oboo Yankee as party members who masterminded the crime.

Superintendent Anyan revealed that, one of the suspects has confessed that Oboo Yankee gave them a down payment of GHc 400 as part payment of GHc 1,000.

However, the NPP constituency organizer, Obeng Manu, who was said to have sponsored the crime has denied allegations leveled against him.

Meanwhile, the Police said they are treating the matter as a criminal case, and all the suspects will be arraigned before court.
