- Members of parliament from the majority NPP are more influential on social media, according to a report
- The only female MP with the most followers on social media is Ursula Owusu-Akuful of the NPP
- The report by Odekro aims to let Ghanaians know how interactive their MPs are on social media
A recent research has rated the most interactive members of parliament, MPs, in Ghana today. This report brought together all 275 MPs in parliament, rating them according to how active they are on Facebook and Twitter.
The aim of the report by Odekro is to inform Ghanaians about the social media presence of their MPs; examine the kind of content MPs share on their social media platforms and also identify the most active MPs on social media.
In fact, the research showed that MPs belonging to the incumbent New Patriotic Party (NPP) are far more active and influential on social media than their colleague MPs in the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC).
What this means is that 76 out of the 131 MPs on social media are the majority NPP whiles 55 out of 131 MPs are of the opposition National Democratic (NDC).
Out of the research, the top members of parliament who turned out tops are Kojo Oppong Nkrumah of the NPP who pulls 402,000, Samuel Okudzeo Ablakwa with 81,000 followers, Ursula Owusu with 5800 followers among others.
