I have been sidelined by my own party - Rawlings cries

- Jerry Rawlings is unhappy about how he has been neglected by his party

- The founder of NDC says the party ostracized him just as they did to Martin Amidu

- Martin Amidu, according to Rawlings, is here to "clean up the system"

Founder of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and former president, Jerry Rawlings says party members have neglected him and his wife.

Jerry Rawlings reveals that after bequeathing the party to Former Presidents Mills and Mahama, the party severely ostracized him and his family for no reason.

Reacting to the appointment of Martin Amidu as special prosecutor, Jerry Rawlings revealed that the opposition from the NDC is not surprising and that key members of the party hated Mr. Amidu back in the times when he was a government appointee under former president Mills.

“To think we could have utilized somebody like Martin Amidu many years ago from Prof. Mills to our friend John Mahama. Instead we avoided him, we ostracised him the way we do with people like my wife and me,” Rawlings revealed.

According to Rawlings, Martin Amidu will help "clean up the situation and restore integrity back into governance."

Meanwhile, Jerry Rawlings seems to have distanced himself from developments in the party during the lead up to the 2016 elections and also after the elections as he blames NDC's defeat to the stark corruption and abuse of power.

His wife, on the other hand, Konadu Rawlings, distanced herself from the party to establish her own break-away party - the National Democratic Party (NDP) following what she described at the state of rot and corruption by party officials.
