Reacting to the appointment of Martin Amidu as special prosecutor, Jerry Rawlings revealed that the opposition from the NDC is not surprising and that key members of the party hated Mr. Amidu back in the times when he was a government appointee under former president Mills.
“To think we could have utilized somebody like Martin Amidu many years ago from Prof. Mills to our friend John Mahama. Instead we avoided him, we ostracised him the way we do with people like my wife and me,” Rawlings revealed.
According to Rawlings, Martin Amidu will help "clean up the situation and restore integrity back into governance."
Meanwhile, Jerry Rawlings seems to have distanced himself from developments in the party during the lead up to the 2016 elections and also after the elections as he blames NDC's defeat to the stark corruption and abuse of power.
