Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, Ghana's Deputy Education Minister, has stated that teachers found to have been involved in the sexual abuse of girl students of Ejisuman Senior High School (SHS) in the Ashanti Region will face the full rigors of the law.
Speaking on the issue, the Deputy Education Minister stated that his ministry would not tolerate instances of teachers committing criminal offenses against students.
"I want our people to know at Ejisuman SHS and indeed in all schools across the country that the Ministry of Education will not tolerate cases of sexual harassment and child abuse.
These are, if it is true, criminal offences and we will liaise with law enforcement authorities to deal with them," the Deputy Minster said.
The Deputy Minister's comments come in the wake of the constitution of an investigative committee put together to look into allegations of sexual abuse made against some of the school's teaching and non-teaching staff.

Some students who appeared before the panel narrated the troubling moments when teachers propositioned them.
"He took my hands and placed it on his trousers and I removed it. He told me I am not a kid and I know what message he is trying to send across, but I told him I did not understand him."
Another student revealed how she refused to do what a teacher asked of her since they were in town and in the middle of traffic.
"He said I should take his manhood into my mouth but I refused," she said.
