-John Dumelo has reached out to President Akufo-Addo to act against insecurity in the country
-His request comes on the heels of a number of robbery cases that have been reported in some areas in Accra
Award-winning actor and staunch National Democratic Congress member, John Dumelo, has called on President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to be up and doing in order to curb the hike in robbery cases in the country.
The famed actor took to his Twitter account to express his sentiments over the alarming robbery cases in the country which have led to the loss of some lives, money and properties.
He asked the President to makes strides to eradicate the threat of insecurity in the country so that Ghanaians can live free from fear of being attacked or robbed.
In his Twitter post, John Dumelo said, “Dear @NAkufoAddo, the insecurity in Ghana is becoming alarming. From Oyibi to Industrial area and now Tema. Citizens are being killed. Who knows where they will strike next. Ghana is looking up to you. Please make us all feel safe. Regards from Hohoe.”
In the past couple of days, a number of robbery attacks have been reported with the latest one leading to the death of a Lebanese national after a GHC 200,000 theft in Tema.
Before the unfortunate robbery in Tema, some gun-wielding men stormed the offices of Royal Motors and made away with an undisclosed amount of money and the company’s CCTV cameras.
A government statement issued by the Minister of State in charge of National Security, Bryan Acheampong, has assured the general populace of maximum security.
He added that there was going to be a deployment of military personnel to complement the work of the police to ensure that all citizens were protected from such vicious people.
The Ghana Police Service has also released a statement following the robbery cases that have rocked some parts of Accra in recent days.
It is also reported that President Akufo-Addo has called off his trip abroad and has summoned the Interior Minister over the issue.
