The 2017 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA) artiste of the year, Joe Mettle, has opened up on an alluring course of action he has tried to resist for years.
In an interview with Berla Mundi on Starr Drive on Tuesday, February 27, 2017, the ‘Bo Noo Ni’ hitmaker revealed that there has always been the urge to attempt secular music in order to appeal to his fans.
According to him, inasmuch as he is Christian, he sometimes gets “carried away like everyone else.”
He further noted that as humans, there are times one misses his or her way, and it has happened to him on a number of occasions. He added that he does his best to come back when he realizes he is off-track.
The Gospel star went on to say that these are some of the things one needs to pray about before taking a step in that direction.
“And those are the times you get heavy offers. But those are things you cannot decide on without praying about them,” he said.
The musician again revealed that he wrote and composed his popular song ‘Bo Noo Ni’ before he won the coveted top award at the VGMA.
In that respect, he disclosed, he resisted the urge to change the lyrics on the album after he won the award.
Joe Mettle is the first gospel artiste to win the award which has often been picked by secular musicians.
