The Police Service has denied asking a mortuary man to video the corpse of the late Ebony Reigns for evidence purposes.
On Wednesday a video in which a mortuary man was captured ‘fondling’ the corpse of the late singer went viral on social media.
Many Ghanaians were unhappy about the actions of the morgue attendant and rightly expressed their disgust.

However, he later explained that he videoed the corpse of the late Ebony and her friend Franky Kuri on the request of the CID investigating the matter.
He said, through a friend, that the police asked him to record the dead bodies to be used as evidence in the investigations.
However, the police has denied ordering the morgue attendant to take any action of that sort.
According to them, the mortuary man undertook the act for his own personal interest.

This was disclosed by Nhyira FM’s Ohemeng Tawiah who spoke in an interview with Accra-based Hitz FM.
According to him, the police confirmed that they never told the mortuary man to video any corpse, let alone that of Ebony.
“…the police said he took those visuals because of the buzz around Ebony’s death because she is popular he wants to show off to his colleagues. He wants to show them that he is the mortuary attendant who attended to Ebony’s body…” he said.
The late Ebony Reigns died after being involved in a serious car crash on February 8.
The accident which occurred on the Kumasi-Sunyani Highway took two other lives; A soldier (bodyguard of Ebony) and the artiste's friend, Franky kuri.
She is set to be buried on March 17, with her funeral to be held at the Independence Square.
