Taxi driver knocks down 3 armed robbers at Osu

The heroics of a taxi driver has led to the arrest of three armed robbers in Osu, Accra, after he knocked them down with his car.

The robbers allegedly snatched a bag from a foreigner which contained money and other unspecified valuables.

The driver knocked the motorbike used by the suspects leading to their arrest.

Accra-based Citi FM reports that they then tried to escape but were given a hot chase by residents who were present during the robbery.

The suspects tried to escape on a motorbike but were knocked down by the taxi driver, who was alerted about the crime by eyewitnesses.

The driver hit his car against the motorbike of the robbers, which led to them falling on the floor. The residents around quickly chased them down and apprehended all three suspects.

They were later handed to the Osu Police after receiving severe beatings from the angry residents.

This adds to the growing number of robbery cases recorded in the country in recent weeks.

Just this week, over five high-profile robbery cases have already been recorded across the country, with some of the victims losing the lives in the process.

In a bid to manage the situation, government has offered to deploy the military to team up with the Police in fighting crime in the country.
