President Nana Akufo-Addo has finally unveiled the architectural designs for construction of the National Cathedral at a short ceremony in Accra.
According to reports, the much talked about National Cathedral would house impressive chapels and baptistery, a 5,000-capacity auditorium, grand central hall, music school, choir rehearsal and multi-use spaces, art gallery and a shop.
The ceremony which took place at the Accra International Conference Centre shortly after the thepresident's ^th March address saw Dr. Bawumia and the Most Rev. Samuel Asante- Antwi, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Cathedral in attendance.
President Akufo-Addo in a short address stated that the edifice will serve as an iconic centre for thanksgiving and worship to God for his mercies onto the nation, Ghana.
Nana Addo in his address called on all Ghanaians to support the construction of the project.
The General Overseer of the International Central Gospel Church (ICGC), Dr. Mensa Otabil who led prayers to consecrate the drawings mentioned that, the Cathedral would be a place of inspiration, reflection and to celebrate Ghanaian authentic culture and traditions.
The architectural design of the Cathedral was done by an astute Ghanaian architect, Sir David Adjaye, who said he drew inspiration from both Christian symbolism and Ghanaian heritage.
President Nana Akufo-Addo in March 2017, cut the sod for the construction of the Cathedral in Accra.
