- Samira Bawumia is hosting the morning show on Starr FM in Accra
- This move forms part of efforts to celebrate International Women's Day
- The day is meant to fight for the equal rights and empowerment of women
The second lady, Samira Bawumia, always takes us by surprise! The stylish politician took a different turn to mark international women's day by taking on the job of a morning show presenter at Starr FM in Accra.
Samira Bawumia has been touching on various issues bothering women in Ghana today. International Women's day has been launched in Ghana under the theme: #Women Too - Press to Progress as Game Changers'.
This follows various levels of discrimination that women in Ghana face often at work, home and society in general.
This year’s international women’s celebrations will focus on gender equality for women which is also captured by the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
It seeks to eliminate all harmful practices, such as the child, early and forced marriage and FGM; recognize and value unpaid care and domestic work through the provision of public services, infrastructure and social protection policies and the promotion of shared responsibility within the household and the family as nationally appropriate, among others.
