Woman feared dead after falling into manhole

- A woman is feared dead after falling into an open manhole

- The woman had gone to empty a rubbish bin when the incident occurred

- The woman's mother said she could have survived if rescuers took her out quicker

Residents of Agboba, a suburb of Accra, have made several attempts to recover the mortal remains of a young woman who reportedly fell into a open manhole in the morning of Thursday, March 8th, 2018.

According to a report by Myjoyonline.com, the incident occurred when the woman went to empty a rubbish bin behindf the building she worked in.

Woman feared dead after falling into manhole

Relaying her grief to Myjoyonline.com, the 30-year-old woman's mother, Mary, related that her daughter's body was yet to be removed from the manhole since she had fallen in the hole.

"My daughter came from Kumasi three weeks ago to work for the eatery joint, only for me to receive a phone call this morning that she had fallen into a manhole," the mother said in an interview.

The 30-year-old victim's mother went on to say that her child could have survived the incident if only rescuers were able to pull her out as soon as she fell into the hole.
