YEN.com.gh has sighted a video of self-acclaimed Queen of Ghana comedy, Afia Schwarzenegger, in which she is making a passionate appeal.
In the video posted to her Instagram page, Afia is captured driving along some principal streets of Accra, and there happen to be some homeless families virtually living on the streets.
While driving, Afia Schwarzenegger, whose facial expression changed upon seeing the street families, starting begging the Ministry of Gender, Child and Social Protection to quickly come to their aid.
Afia said in the Twi language: “The Ministry of Gender, Hon. Minister, please rise up and do something about this. This is against the children’s right, against humanity.”
Afia further advised parents to keep to the number of children they can afford to look after, not the number that would push them to go live on the streets.
Her video managed to garner massive reactions from her fans and followers, with many agreeing with her.
For instance, Phil Nanayaa believes the government must be up and doing regarding street children than spending money on national anniversaries like the recently held Ghana@61 celebrations.
Phil wrote: “All these kids on the street and yet they still throwing money into celebrating 61 birthday hmmmm.”
Another fan, Miss Emelove, also commented: "Thanks for this post, it's really touching.”
Tplahar, another fan also wrote: “In a way I agree with you but the point is these young street girls are extremely vulnerable and in many cases becomes victims of sexual predators. We can't stop them from having children but there should be a support mechanism for these children.”
Another touching comment came from a fan, Cee4real, who wrote: “Omg I can’t believe this is still going in Ghana after 61 years of independence??? All the leaders know is greediness and by the way is President Nana Akuffo seeing this too and silent about it or what?? I want to understand something? Yet He responded back to President Trump that Ghana is not poor? How do you justify this President Addo? Oh Ghana when .”
Afia Schwarzenegger has recently descended on Nigerian President, Buhari, over his comments that he is willingly to help fight corruption in Ghana.
