Meet the blind man who sells coconut for a living
In Ghana, not many people believe that physically challenged people could actually be involved in anything meaningful.
However, the story of Samuel Nyadu Kwasi – a 52-year-old visually impaired man – is about to change that thought.

Nyadu Kwasi hails from Akropong-Akuapem in the Eastern Region but has not allowed his disability to dictate his life. Rather, he has channeled his energy into something profitable for himself and his family.
Currently, he is into coconut selling despite his condition as a blind man. He explains that he has been in the coconut selling business for almost 15 years and he has never regretted.
According to him, it is a job that has been so helpful that he is able to cater for his wife and seven children.
Having graduated from the Akropong School for the Blind and Okuapeman Senior High School, Nyadu Kwasi decided to venture into coconut selling regardless of his condition.
“I started this thing about 15 years now and in fact it has helped me a lot to look at my children, wife and also myself. I myself climb the Coconut tree and cut the coconut down and after that I pick it, carry it to the road side and transport to Akropong after paying the owners,” he said in an exclusive interview with Starr News.
He further revealed that selling coconuts has been a booming business for him, with many people preferring to buy from him rather than other sellers with no disability.
He, however, pointed out that his job as a coconut seller comes with a lot of challenges that he faces on a daily basis.

He appealed to the public to help him get a tricycle to help make the transportation of his coconuts easier, adding that he would also appreciate it if he had a kiosk where he was stationed to sell his coconuts.
“This work, in fact it is tedious work, I need many things to help me do the work and I am not getting it but I hope by God’s grace I will get some help. At least when I get tricycle known locally as Aboboyaa or truck to carry my fruits from place to place to sell in fact it will help me a lot, so I am appealing for help. Also, I need a place to build a Container kiosk,” Nyadu Kwasi told the Starr FM reporter.
The story of this young man is one that is as inspirational as it is emotional. However, despite all the challenges, Nyadu Kwasi is still striving to make ends meet regardless of his blind state.
