Emmanuel Offin, popularly known as Nana Yaw, a mobile phone dealer in Asuoyeboah, a suburb of Kumasi in the Ashanti Region, reported collapsed and died last night, March 14, after Chelsea’s defeat.
According to many people who knew him very well, he was a die hard supporter of the English club and could not come to terms with his team’s shocking defeat.
In a report sighted on Ghpage.com, the young man was confirmed dead just a few minutes after the football match between Barcelona and Chelsea.
According to Kumasi-based Otec FM, the 24-year-old man fell unconscious and died as a result after the final whistle of Chelsea’s 3-0 defeat to Barcelona in Spain.
Speaking in an interview on the radio station, the brother of the deceased young man revealed that the whole family was in a state of shock after the death of their relative was reported.
Follow up checks by Otec FM’s reporter, Rhoda Dankwa, after a visit to the family house of the late Emmanuel Offin, confirmed the sudden demise of the Chelsea fan.
According to some family members, the body of the mortal remains of the young man had been deposited at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital.
Chelsea lost to Barcelona at the Nou Camp on Wednesday, March 14 after a 1-1 first leg in England.
The defeat invariably saw Chelsea’s exit from the ongoing Champions League.
