- All is set for Ebony’s tribute concert which will take place on March 23
- Many acts have been billed to perform in honor of the young dancehall artiste
The tribute concert to commemorate the passing of 21-year-old dancehall act, Priscilla Opoku-Kwarteng, popularly known as Ebony Reigns, is set to take place on March 23 at the La Trade Fair Center in Accra.
The concert was put together by Ebony’s record label, RuffTown Records and Midas Touch Inc. in collaboration with the Musicians Union of Ghana, the Ministry of Tourism, Arts & Culture and Kasapreko Company Limited.
The concert which is scheduled to start at 7pm is purposely aimed at preserving the legacy of the ‘Date Ur Fada’ singer and to eulogize her for all the good works she did in the music industry before her untimely demise.
According to an article sighted on Ghpage.com, the late musician’s record label has released the names of some of the top acts who would be performing at the tribute concert.
Among the list of performers are Ghana’s fastest rapper, Sarkodie, award-winning dancehall acts, Shatta Wale, Stonebwoy and Samini, highlife divas, Becca and Efya, VIP, R2Bees, Edem, Kofi Kinaata, Kwabena Kwabena, Nana Yaa, Obour, MzVee, Teephlow, Tic Tac and Barima Sidney.
Other artistes would also grace the occasion to honor the memory of Ebony Reigns.
A poster has started circulating on social media informing music lovers of the upcoming event.
Ebony died in a gory accident on the Sunyani-Kumasi road while returning to Accra from Sunyani. Her childhood friend and PA, Franky Kuri and one air force official, Francis Atsu Vondee, who posed as a bodyguard also died in the car crash.
The final funeral rites and burial service of the late Dancehall diva Ebony Reigns have been scheduled for March 24, 2018 instead of the first date, March 17.
The postponement follows difficulties to secure a big enough venue for the funeral.
She will later be buried at the Osu Cemetery after the final funeral rites are held in Accra at the forecourt of the State House.
