Kidnappers demand GHC5000 to release 1-year-old boy

Father of a 1-year-old boy has been asked to pay an amount of GHC5000 as ransom in order for his boy to be released to him.

The boy, Frederick Zikpli, has been held in the grips of the kidnappers for about 48 hours now.

The father of the boy who reported the incident to the police upon receiving a call from the kidnappers stated that “I received a call on Monday from a strange person who enquired whether I was the father of the missing child and when I confirmed, he then told me he has my son and that I should pay GHC5,000,”

Speaking to Citi fm, the father of the boy said the kidnappers called him while he was still at the police station to demand GHC1000 through mobile money.

Frederick's mother had left him and his twin in the care of their father's sister to go to the Suhum market but returned to hear the news that one of them was missing.

However, the Kyebi Divisional Commander DSP Emmanuel Isaaka have assured that the police are doing everything in their capacity to ensure that the kidnappers are arrested and charged.
