Director General of Ghana Education Service

Deputy Director General ranked second in GES

It ranks second in the ranks in Ghana Education Service. They are in charge of providing technical and administrative support to ensure that the objectives of the Ghana Education Service are achieved. The office was officially recognized as an independent body under the Director General according to the Ghana Education Service new ranking.

In charge of tracking all the progress of policies prescribed by the Ministry of Education. To qualify as an Assistant Director I, applicants must have at least three years or more years continuously working as an assistant director 11. They also monitor the work of all directors.

Assistant Director II rank in GES

They are the First Assistant Director’s right hand person. They also conduct an overseeing role to ensure that all the functions of the First Assistant director are conducted. They assume office when the First Assistant director is away or unable to conduct their duties and responsibilities.

Holders must have excellent organizational and time management skills in handling all the logistics documents. You must also have served for three or more years as a principal superintendent in GES to be promoted to the rank. You must also hold a diploma or degree in a related field of study.

Principal Superintendent in GES

They are in charge of school districts within their region. Principal Superintendants are responsible for the management of schools in their districts. They form part of the administration of policies as prescribed by the Ministry of Education. They analyze the work of principals assigned with the role of supervising schools in their districts.

They are also in charge of hiring senior staff in the district. They are in charge of overseeing the standards of education and achievement of students. They are also concerned in the development projects in schools. They form part of the council engaging in planning of the budgets and allocation of resources to schools in their districts.

They must be a holder of a degree in any related field of study. They must also have served as a senior superintendent 1 for more than three years continuously. They pass through an interview conducted by the Public Service Commission with consultation with the Ghana Education Service council.

Senior Superintendent I

The Ghana education service pay structure stipulates that a senior superintendent I must have at least three years or more of continued service to the Ghana Education Service. They must also have served as Senior Superintendent 2 before being promoted to the current post. A teacher with more than 5 years can also apply for the job after passing through an interview conducted by the Public Service Commission in consultation with the Ghana Education Service Council.

A teacher who obtains a bachelor's degree in education or in any related field of study qualifies for this position. Also, teachers who have taught for long years can also qualify for the mentioned rank. They also have to sit through an interview conducted by the Public Service Commission in consultation with the Ghana Education Service General Council.

They must also be a holder of diploma in basic education with four years of service or more on the rank of superintendent 11. They ensure the current curriculum is handed over to the different schools in their district. They evaluate the performance of different schools in the district for Ghana Education Service SHS ranking.

Senior Superintendent II

A Senior Superintendent II must have served three years and above continuously in the Ghana education service. They must also have served in the rank of Superintendent for close to two years and more. They must have an exemplary conduct with a reputable proven performance.

Teachers with more than 7 years’ experience can also apply for the job. They will have to pass through an interview through several panels where they will be tested on their knowledge of the organizational structure of Ghana Education Service. The interview questions will be formulated by the Ghana Education Service Council and are prone to change from interview to interview.

Superintendent I

They must have served as teachers for four or more years continuously for the Ghana Education Service. They must be licensed and registered under the Ghana’s teacher union. They also must have a diploma or degree in any field of related study.
