- Zylofon accuses CharterHouse of inducing Stonebwoy to breach his management contract
- Recall that Zylofon Media issued a statement recently and warned that anybody or company that wishes to hire the services of their signed artistes must do so through Zylofon or face legal action
Zylofon Media have written to CharterHouse requesting that the event organising company comes out clearly on their engagement with artiste Stonebwoy.
CharterHouse, organisers of the annual Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA) have reportedly reached an agreement with Stonebwoy to perform at the VGMA nominees jam without the permission of Zylofon Media.
A publication on online portal Ghanaweb.com claimed that CharterHouse has approached Stonebwoy to perform at the VGMA nominees jam on the blind side of Zylofon.
The story, under the headline “Stonebwoy booked to perform at the VGMA nominees jam without Zylofon’s green light” further claimed that the artiste had agreed to perform without sounding out to the management his record label.
This, Zlylofon finds to be a breach of contract and have called on CharterHouse to confirm whether or not they have indeed engaged the artiste for their programme.
A letter from Zylofon Media, through their lawyer, Kwame Boafo Akuffo, addressed to CharterHouse, said they want to know “the true state of affairs” of any purported agreement between their artiste and the VGMA organisers.
“It is extremely important that you come back to us with some alacrity due to the fact that our client’s consent and knowledge is required for any such engagement,” a portion of the statement read.
The record label noted that there is no way Stonebwoy can be engaged for any event or programme without their knowledge.
Stonebwoy has not particularly been on good terms with the management of Zylofon and reportedly requested that all banners and flyers of the record label be pulled down during a recent performance at the Hila Liman Hall in Legon.
The dancehall artiste was also involved in a scuffle with artiste manager Bulldog, after an attempt to seize his car at the Champs Bar.
Although Stonebwoy has refused to confirm whether or not he is considering parting ways with Zylofon, it is believed that the relationship between artiste and manager is strained.
Charter House are the official organisers of the annual VGMA. The event management and production house has been in charge of organizing Ghana’s flagship music awards since 2000.
It is, however, unknown, if they will still go ahead to use Stonebwoy for the nominees jam, as the artiste has been nominated for this year’s VGMA.
