It seems there is a rising trend in Ghana where single ladies now prefer to have kids than to get officially married to a husband.
Gone are the times when the pressure from society caused many single Ghanaian women grab a husband for themselves just to have a ring to show off.
Times are now changing and this article explores some of the reasons why single Ghanaian women prefer 'baby daddies' to 'husbands'.
It has been discovered that most single Ghanaian women these love to feel safe in their sexual life. Safe in the sense that having a child is enough proof that she could demand from her baby daddy whatever she wants so long as these children remain alive. That trade-off security often comes to bear in cases where the man gets to share some of his properties.
2. Freedom to explore
There is no denying the fact that most Ghanaian ladies these days just love to have the freedom to have fun. They feel uncomfortable with this idea of having to stick to the same man for eternity. They love to explore other men as well. Though this may sound selfish, it tends to mean marriage is never the best destination for such women, having a baby daddy rather is.
3. Proof of fertility
Having a child is proof enough that a woman is fertile and not impotent. For those single women who are yet to marry or do not have plans of doing so, the decision to have a child is always the last option for them. To them, having a child debunks all suspicions and cultural meanings of her being barren, having eaten her child and so on.
Baby daddies, some single Ghanaian women will say, are more romantic and sassy than married husbands who always have the stress of family on their minds. These baby daddies act just like how fowls do. They only visit their women for pleasure or to seek out some financial issues. By this, these women believe they tend to have their space to breathe and also do whatever they want.
5.The stress of extended families
Let us face it, one of the reasons people dread marriage is due to annoying stepmothers, fathers, brothers, and sisters. Most single women just want their peace of mind and for this to happen, they rather have a baby daddy than getting married to a man and his family.
Some single ladies in Ghana are working and independent women who do not need a husband in their life but just love and kids.
They interestingly hate the idea of marriage maybe because they just don't have time to mother a family on a constant basis.
