- Pictures of some Africans using a white man as Jesus Christ for Palm Sunday has popped up
- These pictures have raised questions over the actual origin of the founder of Christianity
Was Jesus Christ an African or a white man? This is a question most of us always ask especially as the debate against racism and African liberation intensifies.
Ever since we started watching movies about Jesus Christ; his birth and death, we also had a picture of an innocent white man with a clean beard and long brown hair thrown at us.
Last Sunday was Palm Sunday, an event which remembers the historic and triumphant entry of Jesus Christ to Jerusalem some 2000 years ago.
Here in Ghana, the day was commemorated with Christians hoisting palm branches with some flowers embedded. Others also embarked on a match singing the song 'Hosanna! Hosanna!'.
But somewhere in Africa, it was not just a normal match. It was one that had a "white Jesus" sitting on a donkey and matching past some principal streets of the country.
Looking at these pictures, there are questions about whether Christians across the world especially in Africa see the founder of Christianity as a white man and not an African.
