- Revelers who wear skimpy dresses to the Kwahu Easter festival will be punished
- Chiefs of the town are angry over what they consider to be the increase in promiscuity there
- They want the police to arrest all such persons
The chief of Akuapem Berekusu in the Eastern Region, Nana Oteng Korankye, is calling for the arrest of persons who wear tight and short and skimpy dresses to this year's Kwahu Easter celebration.
Kwahu Easter festivity, which is originally meant to celebrate the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ has now been seen as a promiscuous event which sees revelers, especially teenagers, engage in various 'unacceptable vices'.
According to Nana Oteng Korankye, chiefs of Kwahu can no longer sit back and watch the township turned into an enclave of promiscuity and lawlessness.
“I am calling on the Ghana Police Service to quickly arrest individuals who show up at Kwahu dressed indecently to help save the teeming youth from engaging in sexual activities,” he revealed in an interview with MyNewsGH
The traditional ruler stated that customs and traditions frown to indecent dressing hence cannot be entertained further.
One development which beautifies the Kwahu Easter festivities is the paragliding festival which was introduced more than a decade ago to promote tourism in the country, and also to spice up the Easter celebrations in Kwahu.
Last year’s paragliding exercise was launched by the tourism ministry and also saw six international tandem pilots from the United States, Romania, and Japan recruited to fly passengers at the festival.
