- Jon Benjamin says Ghanaians must forget Shatta Wale, Stonebwoy and pay attention to Wiyaala
- The former diplomat says Wiyaala is currently the biggest artiste in Ghana music
Former United Kingdom High Commissioner to Ghana, Jon Benjamin appears to have settled the current feud between Ghana’s dancehall rivals, Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy.
The former diplomat, who is noted for his love for Ghanaian music and artistes in a Twitter comment, has acknowledged Ghanaian Afro-pop singer and songwriter, Noella Wiyaala as Ghana’s biggest artiste by all standards.
Mr Benjamin, though has ended his official duties in Ghana, seems to be monitoring the current battle for supremacy between Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy.
A Ghanaian entertainment fan who appears to be getting worried about Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy’s feud tweeted at the former diplomat and requested him to settle the final scores between the two dancehall artistes.
The Twitter user with the name Maestro Veron tweeted at Jon Benjamin on Saturday, "Sir..so shatta and Stonebwoy beef can't you pls help settle this. cos they are all under one umbrella..xylofon...(SIC)."
But, Jon Benjamin in his response, to Maestro Veron said: "Ghana is more than big enough to accommodate both Shatta and Stonebwoy. I can settle the beef between them by stating categorically that Ghana's biggest musical talent is .....Wiyaala That's all settled then. You dey barb? (SIC)."
Mr Benjamin’s answer has generated a huge Twitter debate. While some perfectly agree with his response, others are still not satisfied with his answer.
However, his hilarious reply to the question has been liked and re-shared by huge number of his followers.
Wiyaala shot to fame after registering her name in Stars of the Future Reality Shows in Accra a few years ago.
The talented musician then established her solo career in 2013 with first hit single 'Rock my Body' which won her two awards at the 2014 first edition of the All Africa Music Awards as the Most promising Artiste in Africa and Revelation of the African continent.
Wiyaala was also awarded the songwriter of the year in the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards(VGMA) in 2015.
