The director of Bureau of National Investigations(BNI), William Akwasi Appiah, has been reassigned.
There had been media reports that Mr Appiah had been sacked following a meeting held at the BNI headquarters in Accra on Thursday afternoon.
The reports stated that the Minister of National Security, Albert Kan Dapaah, had confirmed the sacking of the BNI boss.
“We’re issuing a statement to that effect soon,” the report quoted the National Security Minister as saying.
However, official communication from the ministry suggest that Mr Appiah had rather been reassigned and not sacked.
He has been replaced by Baba Musah, head of the Bureau's research department.
But a section of Ghanaians still take it that Mr Appiah has been sacked because for them, the new information is just a mild way of communicating the sacking.
