The father of Ebony Reigns has explained why the late Dancehall diva was buried in a black casket.

While some were wondering the reason for the 'unusual' colour, others were speculating that the black colour had something to do with occultism.

This led to questions being thrown at renowned preacher, Reverend Dr Lawrence Tetteh, who paid for the casket who stated that he only saw the colour of the casket at the funeral grounds and was not happy about it.

Rev. Dr Tetteh directed any further questions about the choice of casket to Ebony's father, whom he said, selected the coffin.

Speaking in his latest interview, Nana Opoku Kwarteng stated "It's true that we went to the funeral home with Dr Lawrence Tetteh. We visited many places but we could not get the type of coffin I wanted for my daughter. When we went to Transition (the place where the casket was bought) I saw a very nice one so I chose that one."

He further added that apart from the meaning of Ebony, he chose the casket because he wanted something different to fit the uniqueness of 'Ohemaa', as he prefers to call his daughter.

"As a matter of fact, I was looking for something unique for Ohemaa. The reason being that Nana Hemaa was unique. I haven’t seen her type before. I gave birth to the kid and from day one everything suggested to me that she was very special. So I had always wished for something special and unique for her. So when we got there and I saw that particular coffin I settled on it and the payment was done,” he told KOFI TV.

According to Michael Dela, CEO of Gisarg Caskets and Coffins, there were no spiritual reasons behind the casket and there was no cause for alarm.
