- The Police in Kukoum in the Brong Ahafo Region are on a manhunt for some thugs who allegedly attacked the private residence of the Member of Parliament (MP) for the Asunafo South Constituency, Eric Opoku
- The unknown assailants are also reported to have inflicted deep cutlass wounds on three other persons believed to be supporters of the National Democratic Congress
The Member of Parliament for Asunafo South, Eric Opoku, has been attacked by some alleged thugs at his private residence at Sankore.
The lawmaker and his household were attacked after some thugs wielding all sorts of weapons invaded his house.

Accra-based 3FM reports that the attack was allegedly spearheaded by some members of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).
The said attack took place on Saturday evening, with as many as four persons sustaining severe injures due to the chaos.
Also, some cars and other properties in the MP’s house were vandalized and utterly destroyed.
Although Mr. Opoku was not hurt, other executives of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) who were in his house at the time of the incident all sustained injuries.
The deputy NDC constituency organizer Thomas Amponsah, NDC Sankore branch organizer John Aboagye and Chief of Manhyia No. 4, Nana Oppong, were all among the casualties.
The report indicates that this is the second time Mr. Eric Opoku and his household have been attacked since his party lost power after the December 2016 general elections.
Meanwhile, the Police is yet to make any arrest despite confirming that investigations have begun to apprehend the perpetrators.

“Some names have come up and we will do everything possible to get the perpetrators arrested,” Chief Superintendent Kweku Duah, Crime Officer at Kukuom Police command said.
