Most gospel musicians are 'jokers' – Oheneba Kissi

Veteran Ghanaian highlife musician, Oheneba Nana Kissi, has lashed out at some Ghanaian gospel musicians for carrying ‘big titles’ and yet have no understanding of gospel genre.

According to Oheneba Kissi, majority of Ghanaian gospel musicians are nothing but jokers.

Speaking on Adom TV on Friday, the highlife musician lamented that there are too many people carrying themselves around as gospel musicians and yet have no clue about the music industry.

Commenting on the One Week commemoration of legendary highlife musician, CK Mann, Oheneba Kissi maintained that the late CK Mann who was seen as a secular artiste, had a lot of gospel songs than most of the current musicians present in the country.

The veteran musician told Adom TV that about 50 percent of his songs that are considered secular music are far better that what contemporary gospel musicians are dumping on Ghanaians as gospel music.

“Some [gospel musicians] are jokers. A lot of people are [joking]. If I were a gospel musician, every day, I will write and sing a song. Gospel must be gospel. It must be a song that will inspire others. We will all sing gospel…” he insisted.

Oheneba, in his conversation described the late CK Mann as an outstanding musician who devoted most of his craft to put Ghana on the world map.

The musician added that he expects a lots of very important personalities in the country to be present at his funeral to bid him farewell later the year.
