- The suspended Rector of Wa Polytechnic, Prof. Emmanuel Marfo Owusu, has been accused of assaulting staff
- According to the POTAG Chairman, Bami Mubash, he should be investigated for other offences as well
The Chairman of the local chapter of the Polytechnic Teachers Association of Ghana (POTAG) at the Wa Polytechnic, Bami Mubash, has claimed that the suspended Rector, Prof Emmanuel Marfo Owusu, often assaulted staff members.
According to a report by MyNewsGH.com, Prof. Owusu often beat up members he had disagreements with.
Mubash further noted that the suspended Rector forced a committee set up to investigate him, to discontinue their work.
Speaking with Angel FM, he added that the Prof. Owusu “should not be investigated on these ones alone; he should also be investigated in abuse of office, as well as physical and verbal assault of workers."
Prof Emmanuel Marfo Owusu has been accused by lecturers of the Polytechnic of breach of procurement laws in connection with his Mercedes Benz he purchased for himself at GHc500,000.
The lecturers have argued they do not understand how the vehicle would be bought at a cost of GH¢ 500,000 when the infrastructure of the school is in a sorry state.
Meanwhile, a three-member committee has been set up to investigate the allegations of the financial impropriety against Prof Emmanuel Marfo Owusu.
