Respected Ghanaian highlife artiste, Ronald Kwaku Dei Appiah, aka Bisa Kdei has disclosed that he was shocked his name did not appear on this year’s Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMAs) list, although he submitted all his entries on time.
The 2016 VGMA Artiste of the Year nominee says he did not find his name anywhere on the nomination lists that was released by Charter House, organizers of the award scheme.
Speaking to Accra-based Joy News on Tuesday, Bisa Kdei who was clearly not happy about the move, said he is disappointed that he missed out on the nominations for the awards.
“I did file for the nomination, and I have been disappointed since,” the artiste said.
The highlife singer added that he should have been crowned Artiste of the Year in 2016 considering the massive public appeal and opinion.
"Everybody was saying [I should have won the Artiste of the Year], I thought I should have gotten something…” the ‘Mansa’ hitmaker lamented.
But in spite of the shortfall on the side of VGMA organizers, Bisa K’dei is optimistic he holds a great future in Ghana's music industry.
“There is better luck next time. Next year is there. I am going to try my best to work hard so that I’ll be there next year,” the singer stated.
The Vodafone Ghana Music Awards comes off on Saturday, April 14, 2018, at the Accra International Conference Center.
This year's event is expected to attract dozens of music fans as well as entertainment investors, both home and abroad.
