It is also good to remember that Cristiano has been able also to win the Euro Cup with his home team with Portugal. Cristiano Ronaldo has continued to ensure that his team finish among the top four teams in the league which books them an automatic spot in the Champions League where they are the dominant giants of the Champions League having won the title 2014, and most recently in the 2016 and they now seem to be going for their third trophy in 4 years. How commendable! Super Madrid! This is under the watch of their powerful manager Zinedine Zidane who took over in 2016 from Rafa Benitez. He has been able to have a great commanding at the Santiago Bernabéu and the fans are happy with him due to his managerial prowess.

Zinedine, however seems to get a lot of competition from other teams Atletico Madrid headed by Diego Simeone have 71 points having played 32 games winning 21 games, drawing in 8 of the matches and losing 3 games. The team’s leading scorer is Antoinne Griezmann who has been able to get back to form after an inconsistent start at to the season which saw them finish in 3rd position in the group stages of the Champions League which has led them to Europa League facing Arsenal at the semifinals in a week’s time. If they are able to move past that English team they will have high odds of winning the Europa League. The team has consistently been able to finish in 3rd place in the last 3 seasons having won the La Liga title in 2013/2014 season with 90 points.

In the 2 last campaigns Valencia has not been able to finish anywhere close to the top four teams however it is encouraging to see how the team is performing in this particular season. They come fourth after Barcelona, Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid at 65 points having played in 33 fixtures in which they have in 20 games, drawn in 5 games and have lost in 8 matches. Their coach Marcellino Garcia is happy with the currents team performance and their style of playing football. It is good to look at Valencia football team closely, since it has been a strange season for them.

The team began the decade or rather the new millennium as one of the strongest sides in European football winning La liga in 2001/2002 and 2003/2004 however things have not been rosy for the team as their inconsistency has been evident over the years. As they last lifted the Copa Del Rey silverware in 2008 as some of these inconsistency can be blamed on selling their players to other bigger teams who are big names as well as have a lot of finances in and outside the La liga. Their best la liga top scorers and assists as per now is their striker Rodrigo from Spain with 15 goals and the most assists of the team have come from Goncalo Guedes with 8 assists.

Other teams that have consistently been in the La Liga are Sevilla a strong side as well however this time round not only will they miss out on the Champions League but they are likely not to get a spot as well in the Europa League as they come 8th after Real Betis and Villareal who have 52 and 51 points respectively. They could however get a spot in the Europa League should they win in their remaining fixtures and if Real Betis and Villareal lose in one or more fixtures that remain. Sevilla last one the La Liga in 1945/1946. They have also been winners of the Champions League 5 times with the most recent win in 2015/2016, also other trophies like Copa del Rey 2009/2010, Super Cup 2007/2008, UEFA Super Cup 2006/2007, and the Emirates Cup most recently in 2017.

Other teams that do finish most of the times in the La liga division are Celta Vigo however this season has not been great for them. Most football fans wish to see the strong side be able to compete much better in the next season that starts immediately after the 2018 world cup. Their best striker at the moment is Iago Aspas their main striker who has 20 goals coming fourth in the league. Their striker Vincenzo Montella will have to manage his team much more tactically to ensure that they are also able to get a spot in the coveted champions league come the next season. It will be important for the team to have consistency in how they perform at the pitch

It is key to note that, this prestigious competition in Spain has the most goals in the Europe football scene having the most coveted players play in these said big teams. This has been noted because of the coveted Ballon d’Or that is won by players from this league which dominates other leagues in Europe Continent having the most go to Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.

In the matches played already it is good to note that the he most assists are from Lionel Messi with 12 assists, followed by Pione Sisto with 9 assists of Celta Vigo, Antoinne Griezmann with 8 assists from Atletico Madrid, Goncalo Guedes of Valencia also having 8 assists and also Jordi Alba from Barcelona, Karim Benzema with 8 assists from Real Madrid.

It is quite sad to see Deportivo La Coruna, Las Palmas and Malaga being relegated to the segunda division or the second league in Spain. This is because they will end the season in bad form of 27,21 and 17 points respectively. The football fans wish them well in their new league hoping to have them back after the 2018/2019 campaign. Sporting Gijon and Rayo Vallecano seem to have their way back to the La Liga as they both have 64 points at the moment with 5 more fixtures left to end the season.

These teams together with 5th placed Cadiz at 57 which have a chance to get a La Liga sport, were previously in La Liga and they have been determined to get back to the league they therefore deserve to be congratulated and give much more morale however there is stiff competition coming from Huesca which is only 2 points behind the teams. It will be interesting to see how the season will end in the Segunda division as La Liga is much more predictable this season.

This how the teams are in the league standings game week 33 of the season according to news on La Liga table and top scorers
