Gov't opens massive recruitment in new program called Nation Builder's Corps

- The government will now be employing about 100,000 jobs in the Nation Builders program

- The program is aimed at ending unemployment in the country

- This forms part of the May Day celebrations

President of the republic, Nana Addo Danquah Akufo-Addo, will launch the nation builder corp as Ghana joins the rest of the world to celebrate international workers day also known as May Day.

The nation builders corp, YEN.com.gh gathers, is aimed at employing thousands of jobless graduates in the country. Vice president, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has revealed that the Builder's corps will deal with issues related to the economy.

What this means is that all jobless graduates, just like the national service scheme, will post jobless graduates to the various places of work.

YEN.com.gh is also learning that the salary for all workers under the builder's corps will be 600 cedis. The government has emphasized that the nation builders corps will not be a permanent job for all. According to the deputy minister of education, Bright Wereko Brobbey, the program will not be job offer where employers will retire in.

"It is a transient program to help the jobless get something to do as they hope to migrate into the real job market," he revealed.

Unemployment also remains a big challenge facing the labour market. Figures from the Labour Force Survey Report show that more than 1.2 million persons from 15 years and older are estimated to be unemployed representing the total unemployment rate of 11.9%.
