The Ghana premiere league happens annually. Ghana has one of the most composed football leagues in the continent. The league also compiles a list of the Ghana premiere league top scores annually. The following list of top scorers in Ghana premier league was last updated on 14th May 2017. In 2017, the number one top scorer in the Ghana premier league was Nicholas Gyna who then played for Ebusya Dwarfs. He topped the league with a total of 8 goals. The second on the list was Thomas Abey who played for the Heart of Oaks woth seven goals.The third spot was taken by Joseph Paintsil and Samuel Sarfo who played for Tema Youth and Liberty professionals respectively. Both of them had a total of 6 goals during the season. Ahmend Toure who is an Ivory Coast national was also on the third position with six goals in the season. The three were then followed by Daniel Lomote and Abel Manomey who played for WAFA and Great Olympic respectively. They shared the position with Bernard Arthur, Seth Appiah and Komla Agbégniadan and all of them has scored 5 goals in the Ghana premiere league. Last on the top scorers list in the 2017 league were four exception players. They include: Nathaniel Asamoah who played for Aduana Stars,Yakubu Mohammed who payed for Asante Kotoko,Bernard Ofori who played for Medeama and Mohammed Tanko who was playing for Aduana Stars. All the above players scored 4 goals in the 2017 league.

Ghana Premiere League top Scorers 2016

In 2016 the top scorer in Ghana was Yohana Mohammed who played for Aduana. He topped the list by having a total of 11 goals. Second on the list was Latif Blessing who played for Liberty football club who scored a total of 10 goals during the 2016 league. The third position was held by three exceptional players who all scored eight goals during the league. The players include Sadick Adams who played for Chelsea , Erick Bekoe who played for Hassacs and also Kwesi Donsu who played for Medeama during the 2016 Ghana premier league. The next position was taken by two players who scored seven goals in the league. They are Lawson Bekui who playeda for Dream Football Club and Daudi Mohammed who played for Asante Kotoko . The Eighth position was taken by four players in the 2016 premier league. They are Bernard Arthur and Richard Arthur who played for Liberty Professionals and Wa football club respectively. Then There Fredrick Boateng who played for Inter Allied and Cosmos Duade who played for the oaks. All the above players scored six goals while at the league.

Emmanuel Clottey

Emmanuel Clottey was Ghana premier league top scorer in the season of 2006 to 2007. He was a player in the great Olympics where he was given the title of the top scorer in the Ghana premier leagues. Emanuel’s began his football career in the Brazil football academy. He then kept going to play abroad. He then returned home to Ghana where he played for Berekem Chelsea and Tema youth.

After playing for the home clubs, he then made a transfer to the Esperance de Tunis form Ghana where he played from 2012 to 2015. While at Esperance de Tunis he was loaned to Al Dhafra while paying there. Emmanuel played for Asante Kotoko football club before his contract was terminated.

Eric Bekoe

Eric became the goal king in Ghana during the 2007/2008 Ghanaian premiere league. He was then playing for the Asante Kotoko of Kumasi. Due to his great performance, Bokoe landed a great deal with the Egyptian based football club Petrojet. He joined Petrojet after missing to join Zamalek. He, later on, returned to Ghana where she played for Berekum Chelsea. Eric Bekoe currently plays for the Sekondi Hassaacas where he was part of the team during the 2016 Ghana premiere leagues.

Alex Asamoah

Alex Asamoah was the top scorer in the 2008/2009 Ghana premier league. He was the top scorer in league with a total of 17 goals. He was then playing for the Kumasi Asante Kotoko. Alex continued to pay for the club based in Kumasi before he then moved to a club in South Korea. He joined the Gyeongnam Football club which was part of the K-league where he was on loan in March 17th, 2010.

The following year Alex moved to ES Setif where he played for just one year where he, later on, moved back to Ghana to join Ashgold Football Club. At Ashgold Alex just made 16 appearances in total for the team which is quite low before he then moved to play for Aduana Stars. He is currently playing for the Aduana stars.

Bismark Idan and Samuel Affum

During the 2009/2010 season, Samuel and Afum had to share the glory. They were both ranked as the top scorers for the Ghana premier league for the season. Samuel was then playing for the heart of oaks Football club. He then went ahead to pay for the Arabian club known as the Omaha Sporting club. He played for the Arabian club for three years before joining the team in Switzerland. The Swiss team is known as the Young Boys. Samuel now plays for another team in Switzerland when he is on loan. The Club is Xamax.

On the other hand, Idan became a Ghanaian Top scorer while paying for Kessben FC. He, later on, moved on to Berekum Chelsea. After that, he then transferred to Goztepe SK which is a football club in Turkey. In 2014 Bismark Idan moved back to Ghana and joined Berekum. After which he then transferred to New Edubbiase united. He has since then become a free agent after his contract with the club expired.

Nana Poku

Nana Poku became Ghana’s top scorer when he was playing for Berekum Arsenal in 2010/2011 season of the Ghana Premier leagues. Due to his goal-scoring prowess, Nana landed a deal with Hapoel Beer Sheva. He played for the club for three years before he moved to Misr El-Makasa where he is currently under contract with.

Emmanuel Baffour

Baffour was the top scorer during the 2011/2012 Ghana premier league season. He scored a total of 21 goals during the season. He was the top striker for the New Edubbiase football club. He has also played for Tema youth and Liberty Professionals. He then landed a deal with the Mamelodi Sundown’s, a team in the South African Premier League. His contract has since then expired and is currently missing in action on the football scene.

Mahatma Otto

Otto was the tops scorer of the 2012/2013 Ghana Premier league. He became the goal king while he was playing for Hearts of oak Football where he had paid since 2009 to 2013. He then paid on loan for ES Tunis while he was still playing for Hearts of Oak. After which he then joined Sogndai which is a Norwegian Football Club where he plays till date.

Augustine Okrah

Augustine Okrah was the goal king during 2013/2014 Ghana premier league. He was then paying for Bechem team where he scored a total of 16 goals for the team. The 23-year-old had joined Bachem United on loan from BK Hacken. Okrah has since then moved to pay for Al Marriekh in Sudan.

Kofi Owusu

Kofi Owusu became the goal king during the 2014/2015 premier league. He was paying for Berekum Chelsea where he scored 19 goals for him town the golden boot. He, later on, joined King Faisal and Aduana stars before he joined Aswan FC which is based in Egypt in January 2016 just before the beginning of the 2016 premier league.

Latif blessing

Latif blessing becomes the golden goal scorer of the Ghana premier league while playing for the Liberty professionals in 2016. He got the golden boot by scoring a total of 14 goals during the league. He then landed a deal in the United States with Sporting Kansas city and later on with Swope Park Rangers in Los Angeles where he pays position 7, a forward for the team. It is also important to note that Latif blessings play with his both legs. An added advantage right?

Hans scored 17 goals while playing for Ashanti Gold during the 2017 Ghana premier league. Hans Kwofie has gone down in history as the first player in the Ghana premier league to score a hattrick and a quadruple in a single season.
