Ghanaians criticise Kwame Despite over police station donations

- Some Ghanaians have criticised Kwame Despite over his donation of buildings to the police

- According to them, the gifts could compromise the Police Service's dealings with him

On Monday May 7, 2018, the founder and chief executive officer of Despite Group of Companies, outdoored a police station building he constructed for the Ghana police service.

The building was given to the Tesano office of the Police Service, making it the second of such donations from Despite. Earlier this year, he donated the first to the Ashanti Regional police command at Wiamoase.

In attendance yesterday were some officials of state, not least, president of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo who was the guest of honour. But not everyone is happy with Kwame Despite.

YEN.com has monitored social media reactions from yesterday and it is safe to say that many members of the general public do not agree with what was intended to be philanthropy.

There are those who allege that the business mogul is trying to “scratch the back” of the police service. Others suspect that he is only looking to win favour with those in political office.

The debate will go on and the suspicions will not cease but what cannot be doubted is that Dr Osei Kwame is a proud philanthropist.
