Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the McDan Group of Companies, Daniel McKorle, has revealed that ne has stopped hiring people based on their degrees or other certificates.
According to him, finding quality human resources has now become a challenge for many business entrepreneurs like himself.
He said employing based on degrees many a time turns out to be disappointing, therefore, he has now resorted to hiring based on attitude.
In his view, attitude supersedes everything else, including one’s degree or other higher certificates.
“I have decided to employ attitude and not degrees and certificates so now when you appear on my interview panel, I will employ based on your attitude,” Mr. McKorley said.
In an exclusive interview with PKbusinessworld, the top business magnate said there is more to be done to equip the youth to take up jobs.
He said he is motivated to give help to young graduates who are interested in starting up their own businesses.
This, he said, would be done through the establishment of the Mcdan Challenge competition which will see students supported with start-up capital to realize their dreams.
Partakers in the competition will have the chance to benefit from a mentoring and a coaching program under the auspices of the McDan Group of Companies.
He praised government’s effort at promoting entrepreneurship amongst the youth but was quick to add that more must be done to boost the private sector which would in turn revamp the economy.
